CUaware Protégé Competition

The CUaware Protégé Competition is an opportunity for credit unions to recognize the value and potential in rising professionals age 35 and under, reinforce cooperative principles and credit union philosophy, and support CUaware and the league’s investment in developing leadership.

Join us for the conclusion of the 2020-21 CUaware Protégé Competition where chapter finalists from North and South Carolina will compete for the chance to be named this year’s CUaware Protégé. In part one of the finals at LAUNCH, watch live as finalists give their 5-minute presentations on credit union topics they’re passionate about.

Judging results from this portion of the finals will be combined with each finalist’s exam score (taken prior to today), and final results will be announced on Friday, February 5 during LAUNCH.

The winner and two runners-up will receive developmental scholarships sponsored by the League.

Young Professionals Workshop Agenda

Thursday | February 4

9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Becoming an Effective Leader: What’s Holding You Back?
Angela Prestil, CU DifferenceCongratulations! You’re doing so well in your career! Whether you’re a manager, a vice president, or a chief, you’ve worked hard to get where you are. So why does it feel like you’re stuck? You could be standing in your own way and not even know it. You might have a small flaw – a behavior that you might even consider to be endearing – that’s holding you back. Building on Marshall Goldsmith’s book What Got You Here Won’t Get You There, we’ll investigate a series of self-limiting behaviors that can derail people who have otherwise been very successful leaders – and prevent them from moving up further. We’ll also discovers ways to overcome your unconscious, annoying habits to attain an even higher level of success.
10:15 – 11:00 a.m. Moving from Goal Setting to Goal Getting
Angela Prestil, CU DifferenceWe’ve all heard the adage “A picture is worth a thousand words.” You can leverage a simple drawing to train your brain to stay focused and achieve key goals. During this session, we’ll capture both current and desired states of business/life, then build the bold steps you’ll take into that desired new reality you’ve been dreaming about. Visual goal setting combined with immediate action (using micro goals) hits an internal success button. Drawing skills optional!
